Bank Bonus Finder
Banks and credit unions pay new customers $100 to $400 or more for opening a checking account and meeting a few terms. Find current offers near you, see the requirements up front, work out what you really keep, and track every deadline until the bonus lands.
Search current offers
Uses Google Gemini with Google Search and your own key (set it once in Settings). Each offer comes back with its source, and the bank's insurance is checked against the FDIC or NCUA. Always confirm the terms on the bank's page before you open anything.

How checking bonuses work
Banks pay these bonuses because a new checking customer is worth more to them over time than the bonus costs. You keep your current bank. The new account is extra.
The usual steps
- Open the account online, using the bank's offer link or promo code if it has one.
- Meet the terms, most often direct deposits of a set amount by a deadline, sometimes a minimum balance or a number of debit card purchases.
- Wait for the bonus, usually 30 to 120 days after you finish.
- Keep the account open as long as the terms say, often 3 to 6 months, or the bank can take the bonus back or charge an early closing fee.
Credit unions
Credit unions are member-owned and insured by the NCUA instead of the FDIC, with the same $250,000 protection. You must be eligible to join, usually by where you live or work, family, military service, or by joining a partner group. Many let anyone join with a small one-time donation. Most also need a small savings "share" deposit, often $5 to $25, that stays in the account while you are a member.
What to watch for
- Direct deposit rules. Each bank decides what counts. Payroll and government benefits almost always count. Read the terms and use a real direct deposit.
- Monthly fees. A $12 monthly fee for six months eats $72 of a $200 bonus unless you meet the waiver.
- Taxes. Bonuses are taxable income, usually reported on a 1099-INT.
- Eligibility. Most offers exclude anyone who had an account there in the last 12 to 24 months.
- Credit checks. Most checking accounts use a soft check and ChexSystems. A few use a hard credit pull. The terms or the application say which.
